1) Silkie Bantam , 15 weeks, weight seems normal.
2) Since last afternoon she prefers to lay down and has a slight wobble in her step. She is refusing to eat but appears to be drinking plenty of water. She is alert but when I handle her she feels weaker than normal.
3) Been acting this way since yesterday afternoon.
4) No other birds are exhibiting symptoms.
5) On the pad of one of her feet there is a pretty small dark spot that looks like it's possibly a scabbed over wound. That's the only possible physical injury I have noticed.
6) Not sure what could have caused this.
7) She hasn't been eating today, but she is a free range bird during the day so mostly bugs/grass/seeds/whatever treats I give her. She drinks from a watering dish in the run or water on the ground/plants from after the rain or watering the gardens. Chicken food and water are available inside the coop but she seems to prefer eating/drinking outside. I have 3 chicks that are on there last few weeks of starter feed and occasionally she gets into that.
8) Her poop looks normal.
9) No treatments yet.
10 ) Hope to treat her myself.
11) no pictures.
12) The bedding in the coop is aspen wood shavings.
She doesn't appear sick, just lazy and disinterested, but lack of appetite is never a good sign so I'm very worried.
I read through this site http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044 and I think it's possible she may have a staph infection aka bumblefoot because of the symptoms and possible wound on her foot. But she is not showing any of the symptoms like swollen joints and feet so I could be completely wrong.
