Hey all, so I have a small mystery on my hands.

I purchased a rainbow egg assortment from Ideal Poultry.

I got what I assume is a cuckoo maran.

However, at 15 weeks, despite her coloring, she's looking suspiciously roostery to me.

Her comb and wattles are turning red and large. She has long skinny neck feathers, and what appear to be saddle feathers.

But her color says hen, and the hatchery was supposed to send all hens.

Any ideas?

Cockerel. That's a big comb for that age.
13 hens isn't enough for 3 roosters.
If I'm being honest, 1 rooster is more then enough for 13 hens.
My male to female ratio is really messed up from last, and this years hatches.
I would say if you can, only keep one of the three.

The 2 roos I have do just fine together, and have for awhile now. I think it's because my silkie is an absolute pushover.

If I had to pick just one though, it's my big red roo, Stowaway. I'd fight people over that bird. He's so, so good to his ladies, and polite with me.

Oh, okay. If that works for you, that's perfect!
Just wanted to give a heads up. :)
