Help! Hens Loosing Feathers And Growing Scabs!

It looks like your boys are a tad rough on her. Mine do the same thing.....I got chicken apron thingies to put on the really bald and sore ones and it helps. The boys tend to solo out their favorite and work her over quite a bit. I've even had open wounds on their sides because of their mating so much.

Keep her away from the boys as much as you can. When she's outside she can get away more and therefore she'll heal up some but being confined will just make things worse.

Do you have any of those chicken apron thingies? My kids call them chicken dresses and tease me about getting them bonnets too. LOL....

They work and don't seem to bother the girls much at all.

WELL I FEEL LIKE A FOOL......MY UNCLE SAID THE SAME THING BUT I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO BELIEVE MY BIG BEN (A TWELVE POUND NEW HAMPSHIRE ROOSTER IN THE PICTURE) WOULD BE THAT ROUGH WITH MY GIRLS......THE TRUTH IS WHAT YOU SAID MAKES PERFECT SENSE...SHE IS THE ONE HEN HE LOVES THE MOST......WHEN MY EE ROOSTER GETS LOOSE WITH THEM HE CAN PRETTY MUCH DO AS HE PLEASES BUT IF HE COMES NEAR THIS PARTICULAR HEN....IT'S OVER...BEN COMES FLYING IN AND RUNS THE EE OFF......THANKS FOR THE ADVICE....I DON'T HAVE ANY OF THE APRONS BUT MY LOCAL FEED STORE SELLS THEM.....I MADE FUN OF THEM WHEN I SAW THEM NOW I HAVE TO BUY EIGHT OF THEM!!!!!!
