If you want to but don't hold your breath. Is there a place to take roosters? Should I call local farms?
I've sent him a text but have not heard back yet.Sorry
Will he take them back?
I posted photos on my 10:30 post this morning. Let me know what you think. Thanks.Maybe see if you can get started Pullets from him to make up for the loss in time spent on these. Post photos of any you're considering and we'll tell you if they're pullets or cockerels.
I meant any chickens in the future, we've already told you that all your current chickens are boys. :]I posted photos on my 10:30 post this morning. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
Thank you! I am sad but will perservere in getting some actual hens in my coop. That's because it's a rooster and not a barred rock. He's very handsome!
Combs and waddled aren't a 100% on telling the gender.
See those long feathers that hang down on either side of the tail, those are called saddles and they are long and pointy on a male. Males also have longer feathers on the neck called hackles. Hens have saddles and hackles too but they are short and rounded
Ah, I re-read and understand now. I am not sure where to get hens that are actually hens but I will research. Is there a way to know if any of these BYC members are near me in California?I meant any chickens in the future, we've already told you that all your current chickens are boys. :]
That's the spirit, check feed store's or Craigslist in the spring or you can look uphatcheries although if you only want a few, many hatcheries won't ship less than 15. I think cackle hatchery may ship as few as 6, but I'll have to check.Thank you! I am sad but will perservere in getting some actual hens in my coop.
