I am at day 2 and the humidity in my incubator keeps rising. I have already opened it up and taken water out, which I'm not even sure you should do seeing at I have to remove the whole egg turning tray with eggs in it (I hope this doesn't disturb anything?). Should I try taking ALL the water out?? Is that even a possibility, that it doesn't need any water in there at all? I hate to open it again and move eggs/disrupt temperature ect.....
This is my first time and I borrowed this incubator from a friend, which came with NO instructions, so I've been googling a LOT =)
I should add, it is now up to 80...EEK

TIA.

Take the eggs out and dry the bator out with papertowels... You won't hurt anything as long as you are easy with them and move quickly... humidity is acquired by water surface area... depth makes no difference. Let it go dry for a few hours and watch it. If it drops below 40% fill one small cell give it a few hours and see what happens.... this early in the game you have a little room for error. I just hatched a large hatch and my humidity was 65% for the first 16 days then I finished dry for the last 5 days (after advice from some smart BYC peeps) ... You will not hurt them by moving them around (hence they are moved several times a day anyhow) just go fast because temperature is probably the most important... nature is very forgiving

This early in the process you are fine to move the eggs.

When I incubate I go for humidity between 20 and 35. Raise to 70 plus for hatch.

When a hen incubated she will get off the nest for maybe up to an hour to eat drink dust bathe and take a broody poo.

So you don't have to rush to get the Bator dried out.

Take your time all will be fine.

If the humidity is still high after all water removed you can put a container of rice in to help dry it down some more.

Good luck

Xs 2.
I run about 30% and if I can hit anywhere near that dry I run dry. Don't worry about opening or moving. Unless you drop or damage the eggs, it doesn't do any harm. Having high humidity for incubation however will do harm. I'm going to share a humidity link with you. It's the method I use. http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity
