Help! I can no longer Keep Silent!

BUT it sort of looks like it might be a white Rock or perhaps Leghorn? I dunno... but I think if it was a rooster, then you'd be seeing more comb development, etc. by now? Maybe

That would be my guess too, is it a very heavy chick for it size?,I can't tell from the picture. and it does look like a pullet to me too. But really Im no expert so???? I hope they are leghorns or white rocks as they are both good layers from what i have heard.

I would suggest you get some more pics, include the legs and feet, photo from front and side and above, then start a thread in the "What breed or gender is this?" forum. Take photos of more than one if the combs look different to you. You will probably find out real quick.

Greenpeeps... your chickens look just like mine! Are you sure you didn't get some white Leggie pullets?

The more I think about it, the more I think the OP's chickie looks like a white Leghorn too. It's the comb that makes me think that!

Looks Cornish cross to me. We raised a bunch years ago. Seems like they have huge yellow feet and grow real fast. Ready to butcher in about 2 months.

Sounds like you need to find someone with Leghorn or Cornish Pullets (about the same age) and switch while he's not looking..

Thats how we replace hamsters around here when they kick the bucket.. Good Luck, hopefully they are not all roosters!

I'm just southeast of you watergarden and I have Amberlink pullets from TSC 4 wks old that are all white.
Our local TSC has sold RED sex link pullets, Amberlink pullets, and straight run reds of sorts. They also sold the cornish rocks.

My peeps look just like greenpeeps' picture -- Amberlink and red sex link pullets. The straight run were dark red like RIR.

If cornish, should be growing really fast ? At 5 wks should be pretty big.

I'd be happy to exchange some birds with you if you ended up with broilers.

TSC gets their chicks from Mt. Healthy Hatchery in ohio. I find them to be very hardy. Maybe the hatchery has more info.
Good luck!

If they are meaties and they're all girls then with some work you may be able to keep them alive long enough to get some eggs, or if you don't want the hassle, you can process them and have a few good meals.
