HELP !! I cracked a egg ( only 3 days to hatch )

Hello everyone, I had a smelly egg in incubator and went to retrieve the smelly thing and I dropped the egg on another egg and it broke the shell but not the membrane and the egg has 3 days till hatch what do I do ? Have I killed my baby ?? I have put a damp cloth over the broken part, will it survive ??? just had one ducky to hatch and is lonely needs his/her playmates.

I would just let it go... Hatchlings are fairly resilient and I've heard some amazing stories. I've heard of people "helping" chicks hatch days too early and they just laid the chick with unabsorbed yolk on a damp paper towel in the bator and it absorbed it. The chick was fine. Good Luck

Been there done that! I just put a piece of wet paper towell over the crack. I kept check on it to make sure it didn't dry out. Good luck!

I hope the baby hatches, it has made me fell such a dumb-butt for dropping the smelly one ,thank-goodness that the smelly one didnt break !!

As long as the egg isn't cracked so bad it's leaking, it should be OK. I had an egg with a large crack in it recently (wasn't leaking though) which I repaired with acrylic and it hatched just fine. I've heard of other people on here using wax and fingernail polish to repair cracks in eggs.

the egg has no leaking as far as I can see, going to keep the fingers crossed.

Since it only has 3 days it should be ok, actually it should be pipping soon anyway so I think it wont cause any problems.

we just did that. ours hatched on its own, but has a small bald spot.

Candle WAX. Dont risk it dying, rotting, and exploding in the nest. Been there it STINKS... LITERALLY
