Help! I cracked an egg shell! :(

Help! Tonight when I was candling our 3 eggs the flashlight slipped and cracked this eggshell!

This is the egg I wanted the very most! They are under hens, not in an incubator. Day 14. Can anything be done?? I can't believe I did this.

Scotch tape or wax, it will be absolutely fine as long as it didn't penetrate the membrane.

Well, what'd you go and do that for?!

I have one too.... all I had was a candle in the living room, so I lit it and used the match stik to smear some on the crack. So far it doesn't smell, but I have a feeling - and it ain't good!

I ended up using a crayon since I didn't have any unscented candles. Melted it over the cracks. Hope I did it right! It went back out to mama last night. Fingers and feathers crossed!

It's day 15 now, when you candle again on day 17-18 you will know if it will do okay.
By this stage the chick is pretty well off when it comes to development, it should not be affected too much.
Just make sure at point of hatch that the chick isn't hindered by the wax when it is attempting to pip the egg.
