As you can see the (chinese) incubator temp read 38.0c which is recomended temp for the incubator i stick the clinical thermometer to measure temp and as you can see it read 43.1c so whos lying? i never get any sucess hatch with this incubator
so which one should i trust? im comfused!

Often the temp gauge on the incubator is incorrect. Most people will calibrate some independent thermometers and hygrometers to better maintain the numbers. I think a common practice is to test it with several different devices and see which come up with the same number and that number is usually the right one.

If you don't get hatches with this incubator I'd have to think the 43.1 temp is the correct one and it's cooking your eggs. The temperature readings being (sometimes wildly) wrong on those cheap incubators is pretty common.

Also if the heat comes from the bottom and you’re reading that up top, it’s probably even warmer where the eggs are.

But if the heat isn’t coming from the bottom and your thermometer is at the top it will be a little warmer because heat rises. Where’s the heat coming from? But your best bet is to use several thermometers as suggested.
