I'm so frustrated right now! I made my run away from my coop because I didn't have a choice. I planned on using this snow fence to make a walkway from one to the other so they can go back and forth.
The snow fence wasn't as strong as I hoped it would be and I can't put anything permanent to tie it up because we have to be able to drive threw with the tractor.
That's why I was going to put the snow fence up so it can be moved when needed.
I feel so stupid now 😭
Do any of y'all have ANY suggestions?
I also know already that I should have figured this out before I got to laying hens from my best friend yesterday. I'm new and I'm going to make mistakes.
I just don't know what to do now 😔

For a few weeks before we finished predator proofing our coop I was "walking" ours from the shed with the brooder to their run and back every day. I would take the calmest of them, along with some treats, over to the run about 75ft, then left them snacking and went back and herded the others over. The first couple of days was a mess and I had to get help directing them, but after that they were okay. How well it works probably depends some on your individual hens and how excited they are for treats. From what I can see, it looks like they'd have a clear line of sight, which should make it easier.

Unfortunately my best friend free ranged them. I mean it's good for them and I wish I could but my husband doesn't want poop all over the place for the grandkids to step on.
I was thinking maybe I could carry them over.
I hope when I get my babies next week and they are ready to go in the coop and yard I'll have it figured out. Lol

Well, for now I used some tobacco sticks that the previous owner had in the barn to tie it up every few feet on each side. They have a walkway for right now.
There's a lot of PVC pipe that the owner's had left. I was thinking of making something like people put on there gardens. A tunnel of some kind. My son is going to college to be a mechanical engineer I'm going to tell him to apply some of that knowledge to help his mama out 😂

I second a version of a portable chicken tunnel! :D whether buckets to hold up your snow fencing or a different setup. Lol. You could use those little hoop things they make for garden row covers or something similar too, to hold your fencing up. :)

There's gotta be a design somewhere on the internet for a portable chicken tunnel.
