Help!!! I don't want to have a popsicle Silkie!

Yes do what u feel in yur gut. Ck her out for mites. If u think she's too cold bring her in. Lots of people hav pet silkies.

Huh.. My silkies are doing wonderful, and I live in Canada. No heat lamps. They don't sleep in a box. At night the younger ones will sleep huddled in the shavings together. My 1 year old roo and 6 month old pullet will sleep on the roosts. My silkie hen, Lorraine has shivered in the summer. She is completely healthy, and doing wonderful so far.

Look at all the fluff they have to keep them protected. All you have to do is keep them dry and they will be fine. Silkies seem to be on every chicken farm around here, so I know they are good in cold weather! We get down to -20 in January. That is Celsius.

I understand chickens can live in cold temps. I feel its a matter of opinion if u want them in yur home. There's not thing wrong w having yur pet chicken in yur house. I love my silkie Roo and I bring him in a lot, he does just fine.

She sounds broody to me too. If you are concerned about her, bring her inside. Yes, they can go broody with nothing under them. I had an OEG that sat on an empty nest for weeks before I finally gave up and bought her some chicks.

I would say..cut the light...
I suspect it is having a hard time adjusting..to different temperatures..between outside roaming and inside...
if you keep the heat on...it dosen't allow the chicken to develop the proper feathering that will protect them from the cold..
