Help? I have a chicken?

Thanks y'all

She's beautiful. I agree about the Leghorn cross; the floppy comb and white earlobes give it away.

She will lay white-shelled eggs for you.

She looks a little young, although Leghorns can be on the skinny side.

I second the idea of getting her some friends. Chickens are very social animals and they enjoy having another chicken companion.

Try to find another adult-age chicken to live with her. Adult chickens aren't always very friendly to little chicks that aren't their own.

Hmmm, she looks like she definately has some Leghorn blood in her, and she looks like she is already laying, but if you aren't giving her fifteen hours of light a day, she won't lay. I agree with getting her at least two or three other chickens for company. My chickens always travel in groups of three or four, but mine are free range.

Hope that helped!!

She may lay without that much light. We still have a fair number of eggs during the winters here, with less than eleven hours a day. It all depends on where you live, I think.

I had a chicken show up in my yard last January. Mine is a game hen. I have other chickens too, but this one prefers to be alone. She does not like being cooped up with them, so I let her be. She was roosting in a tree, then she started sleeping in the barn, and now, well she is hiding eggs somewhere, this is about the 3rd or 4th time she's gone broody, and this time I have not found her yet, although a couple times I have seen her running around the yard for a bit. She obviously ran away from a home that had other chickens and prefers to not be with other chickens. Every chicken has its own personality, and it may not always be easy to find it exactly the right companion. This chicken is free to leave any time it wants because I do not cage her, she got very upset when I have, and if she wanted friends she could either become friends with mine, or she could move to any of the houses on this road that have chickens.
