Hi. My chicks were born May 1st and I'm still not sure about one of them.
She (it) is a silver laced wyandotte and she (it) looks different from my other wyandotte.
I also have a Columbian Rock, Black Jersey Giant and a NH Red, RI Red mix.
Please let me know if you think they're all girls. Should be getting eggs in a few weeks.
Thanks

Oh my...I was afraid of that. What's the tell tale feature that makes it so certain? My only clue was that she (he) was so different from my other SLW.
What does it mean for me now? What do I do? I don't want chicks! Only eggs. Since they were born May 1st I think we'll be getting eggs soon. Do I throw the first ones out. And Priscilla (now Preston) was so friendly and one of my favorites. Anyone want a wonderful roo?

That Columbian Rock looks just like our Light Sussex chickens here in the UK. Must be derived from the same breed perhaps? or the same breed with a different name?

I can also see green tail feathers on your "roo".

NA--you will only get chicks if you allow your hens to hatch the eggs or if you incubate them. You dont need to throw out the first eggs. If you can have roos where you live, why not keep him? He is already established with the girls and will take care of them. You say he is your favorite and as long as he isnt mean I see no reason to get rid of him unless you really dont want a roo. Ultimately the decision is yours to make. Read through the forums for the pros and cons of roos. Lots of good stuff.
