I have a first time Momma w/3 seven week old babies and 6 standard hens. I have a seperate nursery for momma & babies but its seperate from the main run/coop. We went out to dinner & I had no idea we'd be gone so long and I forgot to put Momma and babies in the nursery. We got back after dark and Momma & her standard cockeral baby were in the main coop on the roosts, I found one of her bantam cochin babies sleeping on the back of my chair in the run and the other bantam baby is GONE!!!!
It was dark about 40 minutes when we got home. We searched for over an hour with multiple lights and I cannot find this little guy

So my question is, do you think he might be sleeping somewhere & will resurface in the morning?
Have you ever had a 7 week old out overnight(in summer) by themself & them be ok?

I'm so mad at myself, we have a racoon around and i keep thinking he got the little guy

UPDATE~~~~~~~~~
I knew there was a small chance this little guy found a safe spot somewhere and planned stay there till morning, luckily he started crowing about a week ago so i made sure i was in the yard at sunrise and sure enough i heard him crow but couldnt find him. I called hubby outside & he saw leaves rustling in a tree branch ABOVE the coop, this little 7 week old found himself a spot in a tree for the night!
Amazing!
He was cold & maybe a little scared but in perfect condition! His Momma & "siblings" were happy to see him!
Wow, that was a scare!

You did the best you could do. Hopefully the little guy will turn up in the morning. Sometimes real life interfers with chickens.
