Help: I need to build a Fort Knox

After almost a year without a problem, I suddenly can't keep my birds alive. Coons keep getting in the coop. If anyone has any simple plans or pictures for a relatively simple to build coop that is relatively predator safe, please share it.

You can probably coon-proof your existing coop. Can you tell where the coons are getting in?

How about putting a dog out there? Even a smaller breed would make the coons go elsewhere for their meal.

The coop locked at night should be solid, tight right?

Are you losing them only at night, or during the day as well? In other words, are you needing to fortify just the house, or the entire house and run arrangement? (I second the notion of posting pictures to see if folks can help you fortify what you already have.)

I saw someone state something about putting a dog out there..
I just wanted to throw this out there....
I had my dog kill one of my chickens today.. not sure it is a good idea.
I have a small chihuahua and a austrailian shepard...
and well.. one dug the hole and the little one was in the pen getting whooped and fighting with the other 3 while the aussie killed one of them.
I fear now.. once they kill... they will continue to behave badly here on out.

Once a racoon finds an easy meal it's impossible to get rid of them. The old fashion farmer would use "22" reasons to get rid of the nasty creature. You probably have more than one coon.
