my momma chicken has been doing her job well. On 1/5/09
I went out to let them out and I went over to say good morning to her and heard a peep!!!! I looked under and saw two red little feet. She did it,I am sooo proud. But here's the deal today is 1/9/09
and I still have a solo baby. I am new to chickens and I am dying to know how long I should wait. I wasn't going to let them have babies but one of the hens went broody and everytime I tried to get her eggs she'd bite me,so long story short my favorite named Angel took over and so I let her keep 9 eggs.
    Originally they had 23!!!LOL
I marked them on 12/23/08 and like 3 were marked two days before that. Some are green eggs and I cannot see threw those.
How long should I wait? I feel bad for my baby turken he's all alone.
Today is really nice so I have put him outside with his mom until tonight.[IMG][IMG]
    Any suggestions?

Let's see if I understand. You say you put him out with his you mean the one who hatched him or his real mother? If you mean the one who hatched him, you need to have her sit on those other eggs or none will hatch. If you mean his REAL mother, have you observed to see how she is treating him? She needs to WANT to brood him or she will abandon him and it's too dangerous for a single chick that young alone in the outdoors!! From 12/23/08 to today is less than 3 weeks! Were these eggs given to the broody all at once or over a period of days?
