Help I Really Messed Up! Now I am trying to incubate to fix mistake.

I agree with you not letting the hen set the eggs in the wild at this late date when chances are they may not be fertile. Also her perhaps giving up her life to predators for 2 eggs. Here in South Texas where we are in a horrible drought the predators are so hungry. My hens nests were all raided and eggs taken with some of my girls feathers plucked. I had to put them in a pen to protect them. Not worth loosing their little lives trying to get chicks. Last year I had about 42 babies and left 2 chicks with each peahen to raise free range. It went beautifully...was a delight watching them. This year if the hen could have hatched them they wouldn't have lasted a night. Something even went up the trees and killed 2 of my pet peafowl. I cried for a week. Most of the Peafowl are still in a pen. Not sure they'll ever be released again. Certainly not during this drought. Chicks raised by humans just don't know the ropes to survive during harsh times.
