HELP I THINK MY CHICKENS ABOUT TO DIE!!

But there was one chicken that just had a sleep and then the morning after she was on the ground looking perfectly relaxed... That must have been peaceful, without all the fuss, right??

I've seen far too many animals die 'natural' deaths as a child... they all do some sort of stretch/seizure before passing away. Some are more peaceful than others, for sure, but I've never seen one that sleeps and just doesn't move again. Really, since no one witnessed the other one's death, we can only speculate.

Hope your Rocky makes it, best thoughts for her

I am sorry Rocky has EYP, we had a white leghorn that had it a month or so ago she was young 9-10 mo old. I thought I had killed her trying to clear up worms and vent gleet. When I did the necropsy I found gross fluid in her abdomen, egg yolks soldified and others softer but becoming solid. She was hiding it very well as abdomen had not yet started to swell. I would rather have had her die young then with the severe abdominal swelling and continued internal laying. She was dropping an egg every other day sometimes every 3-4 days must have been when it went internally.

As for her death she was on her side when I found her still breathing very labored, the ground was torn up in a foot radius around her. She was on her side, when I picked her up that was it, she died. The worms I think had a major reson for her being EYP, who knows how long they had them before I noticed them.

What ever you decide for Rocky I hope it all goes well, best to you both!
