I have a black copper marans that when my daughter picked him up he got squirmy and fell to the floor. It wasn't very far to the ground, maybe about 8 inches, but he must have landed wrong. Since then he hasn't been able to really use his leg. He just hobbles around. I have checked him and the right joint is swollen. He seems to be able to grip a tiny bit but not well enough to sit on my finger without help. Can someone tell me where I might be able to take him in the Vancouver WA are to have it looked at? He is part of our 4H program.

look up broken/sprained leg, I read somewhere you can tape it with the stuff they use to wrap you arm after taking blood work. You can get it at the drug store. just don't wrap it too tight. If I remember right leave it on for a week or two, it will have to be re-wrapped as she grows. and don't bug her a lot. Sorry cant be of more help as I don't live in vancouver.

You can wrap with vet-wrap that is usually in the horse section of the farm store. I wrap a couple layers, place a popcicle stick or something similiar on each side for a splint, and then wrap more vet wrap. Like the above poster said, not too tight. If you see too much swelling maybe loosen it some. Some swelling would be normal. Also, you can use 5 regular aspirin dissolved in one gallon of water to give for pain for a few days. Try to get non-coated if you can it will dissolve easier. Good luck!
