Hello all!
Looking to ID this big guy... Picked him up a month after Easter and suspect he is now about 4-5months old. I was told his parents were imported from England to Guelph, Ontario, Canada. There was talk of him being a "rare" Orpington but I have no idea. Looking for any insight you may have. Cheers and thanks for looking.

With that comb type... Not an orpington. Maybe an Orpington mix?

I’ll tag a few members who know a bit more than I do... @JedJackson @Gray Farms
If he's not a new English breed then I suspect he might be part of a breeding project because he has very distinctive coloring. He does look like an Orpington or Sussex mix, but there would have to be something with a pea comb in his ancestry and something with barring.

I agree. My best guess is that somewhere along the breeding line (if he’s a mix) is that the was a barring gene that was passed on to the next generation of offspring. Like maybe a barred Easter Egger/Olive Egger somewhen among the line.

Honestly I’m not that great with genetics. I’m just trying to give a guess (probably not correct but it’s just an assumption).

I know right!! I purchased this bird from a father who had purchased chicks for his son for Easter and this was the only info I recorded from him... All my orpingtons have black beaks, legs, single combs etc but this guy was adamant that was what he was "told." This guy is larger than my largest Buff... I've gone cross eyed looking at pictures on the Google. Thanks for your help!!

He is a crossbred mix of some kind. His head is spot on for a Brahma. He comb, brow, head and skull structure, beak shape... But he not feather legged and Brahmas are yellow skinned. He color is quite the mix. He's got red leakage, a faint columbian pattern, and even some barring showing.
