My husband will not let me spend money to build a new coop from scratch so I need ideas on how to make these two coops work with my new run (I have already ordered the extension panels for the run to make it 13X7) and make them pretty. I really hate ugly things in my yard but with the whirlwind of being allowed chickens I just agreed to these.....

Yes that's what I was thinking open both ends for each coop then maybe use chicken wire to seal anywhere they don't fit perfectly together.

I have cold winters but I only have one coop. I built it big enough for all my chickens but still small enough it will hold their body heat. I suppose for this setup you could use plywood to winterize the run and heat lamps inside if you have to.

What I'd consider doing is placing both coops on one end with a corner of each coop touching a corner of the run. That way there would be a space between the coops the width of the run (the coop doors would face this space). Then you could enclose the open end and cover the space between the coops somehow. You would be able to access the run via the door in the dog cage on the other side, and you could build a door in whatever you use to enclose the open end of the space between the coops. A 6' chain link dog lot panel with a door would be an easy way to enclose that space.

If you were going to do that you may as well just put them flush together opening into the run. Then all you have to worry about is covering the run for winter, and you could still use the main door to enter the kennel. But won't have to buy another panel.

Number of chickens and climate? ....add location to profile ;).

Sorry, I am trying to figure out how to make these two POS's look nice since I have been forbidden to build a real coop. I guess I can paint and add flower boxes etc. ? I live in southern Maryland.
