Help identify cause of death

This is a single one, seems we bought that one too a couple of years ago. We must have about 8.

Here's that same one with the sync module for another couple of bucks is all.
And this might seem like a dumb question, but do I have to be by the camera to see it? If I’m in a different town/state will I still be able to see the chickens on my phone?

I plan to move it far away from my area and release it or drop it off at a local animal shelter.
do not release it. Cats are the most invasive and detrimental thing to nature after humans. either kill it or give it to an animal shelter. And as much as I hate to say it the first option is probably the better one of the two, but either is better than releasing it.

No, you don't need to be there to see the camera as you'll look on your phone. I have checked in on my chickens from out of state before. That feature is a charge of I think $5 a month. You'd have to find out for positive. We got grandfathered in as we've had them for so many years, but now they charge by device, so if you add one someday, the price would go up, but I am not sure how much it is.

I wouldn't be without these though! I have a cool video of our cat chasing a skunk past our aviary where chicks lived in a temp coop. I was so shocked as she was a still a kitten then.

When you say that feature is a charge of $5 are you referring to being able to check on them while you are away or the sync model? And what exactly is the sync model?

Update: Possibly found the predator.

I set up a trap tonight thought it would be a rat, possum, or raccoon. It end up catching a stray cat. As much as I want to get revenge for my favorite chicken, I simply can't do that to a cat even if it was the culprit. I plan to move it far away from my area and release it or drop it off at a local animal shelter.

In case this was a false capture. I'll set up the trap again for a few more days.
I just don't see how a cat could do that with zero damage to the playpen. Surely there would be some kind of damage to the mesh.

When I lived in the suburbs you rarely saw raccoons. They lived in the storm sewers. I'm still leaning towards racccoon because of their hand/paws. They are very strong and grippy. They have been known to reach through fencing and grab a chicken. A rabid raccoon grabbed one of my hens. It was trying to bite her but what killed her was it's hand/paw ripped her skin and punctured her air sac.
The damage was horrific and wasn't even a bite. If I didn't see it happen I would have thought a hawk grabbed her.
I could see a raccoon grabbing through the mesh and the skin ripping as Carrot tried to get away.

Opossums have similar paws but with longer nails. So again I would think there would be some kind of damage to the playpen. Some small holes or something.:(

I also thought the same thing. Raccoons do exist where I live, but are super rare to see especially in the mornings. In my years 20+ years of living here I only saw a raccoon once at night.

The stray cat feels like a false alarm for sure. I definitely will start installing more cameras around the yard to prevent any of this from happening again in the future.

Sync module lets you record. Otherwise, you can only just look to see what's going on at that moment you choose to look. It saves 60 days of recordings/stills giving you time to save them elsewhere, like I did with my cat/skunk or incubator picture.

I believe that's why we get the insane amount of range as well. Without it, the camera would have to rely on wifi, and that gets to around 100'. Our 2nd coop is about 200' from the house, and the camera down the trail at the end of our property is approx 300', or about an acre or so.

There wasn't a hole in the mesh on the playpen. The cat is only guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time
