So I got some eggs from my great aunt and I have two chicks I've never had any like them before. Black with white dots on their heads.

The white dot on the head is an indicator they will be barred. In some breeds it can be called cuckoo and the lines are not as clear because of fast feathering. The legs don't seem yellow like barred rock would have. Are cuckoo marans a possibility? Are they from your aunt's own hatching?

She has chickens that look like barred rocks, she didn't tell me if she hatched her own chickens or what breed they were. Their legs are orange with darker patches on their lower leg and toes.... Let's just say the toes are darker than the upper legs.

Cuckoo marans could be a possibility, how can I tell the difference between a barred rock or cuckoo marans?

I have heard the size of the dot can be an indicator of sex... Is this true?

In the foot picture the color is barred rock (not marans).
In well breed birds more precise and smaller dots are a good indicator of females, but in hatchery, and many peoples backyard, stock that isn't necessarily true. If they are crossed at all, that will also not be a good indicator.

Sexing by legs is more accurate with barred rocks then headspot.
Females tend to have darker legs, & males yellow, or light dark wash.
