holly crap, I totally missed the rose comb! Def not an australorp or a JG...can we get a clearer shot of the comb for confirmation that it IS a rosecombed bird?

(Then again, this board seems to be full of nice, which is nice. hehe)

maybe it's a black sex link?

If it is either a GLW, SLW, or Silver Leghorn like you said it was labeled, then it is definitely a SLW. From the pictures I can see it definitely has a rose comb. SLWs are supposed to have yellow legs, but if it is a hatchery bird it probably completely meet the breed standard, and most feed store birds are from hatcheries. With the exception of the leg color, it looks a lot like my hatchery SLW did when she was a chick.

Too early to tell. Many of us have had experiences with feed store chicks and it is a rare occurrence that there is any pure breed involved. This is especially true when the folks that work there have no idea what they're talking about. Mixed breeds are beautiful birds and as highly functioning as any pure breed. Time will tell what your birds are.

I tried taking more pictures of the face, but I'm beginning to think that I'm just going to have to wait. I have what I believe to be a SLW -- her pink legs are turning yellow and her feathers have a lot more white throughout her whole body. that is why I found it hard to believe this chick, who looked completely different from the SLW from when I got them at 1 week, and still look completely different, to be another SLW.

I think I will take the time will tell approach. I don't care if it's a pure breed, or show-quality breed, but I get into this mindset of "have to know NOW". I am horrible with Christmas presents because I just don't understand why I can't know what I get for Christmas from my partner NOW, BEFORE Christmas. This chicken is teaching me life lessons in patience

And life lessons in possibly never knowing (if it's a mixed)
