I ordered 30 chicks from McMurray hatchery and they included an exotic. What actually arrived was about 39 chicks. It was really cold during the shipping period and they included a note on the manifest that said "extra chicks added for warmth". There were 6 of those which turned out to be white chickens. I was curious if anyone knew what breeds these two are in the photos. They are 7 weeks of age.

I was also curious if anyone would have any idea if the white ones were sexed prior to being added. I was hoping there was a chance there may be some hens.

When hatcheries send extra chicks for warmth, they're typically roosters, because the hatchery has too many. It may be a cornish rex, and in that case, good eating

Is the silver chicken in the top pic your free exotic? It looks like an Egyptian Fayoumi.
I love how McMurray does that.

I looked up the Fayoumi and you are correct, that is definitely what my exotic is. He has matured much faster than most of the other birds. They say they crow between 6-7 weeks and he is definitely the first roo in the flock to crow.
