Help identifying new chicks?

Hi all,

I'm a new chick Mom and got some new babies from TSC last week. I bought them as pullets, but did not know what kind they were, and the employee there did not know either. I was wondering if anyone could help?


Well, it won't let me post pictures because I'm a new member. The first one I'm trying to figure out, is a black pullet that has a white spot on its head, white around it's butt, and looks like some white stripes coming out in the wings. Is this possibly a Barred Rock?

The second is a light yellow chick, pretty much just light yellow all over. I will try and post pics whenever it will let me

I think the last one is a black sex-link and if I am right on that then the white spot on the head makes it a roo. The two yellow chicks could be white leghorns but I am completely guessing on those. I also see what looks to be an Ameraucana in the background of that pic.

I have 2 americaunas and 3 speckled sussex that I got from a local breeder. The other 12 are from TSC's pullet bin, and did not have any idea at all as to what breed. I hope the black one isn't a roo, because all 4 of the black ones have a white spot on their head. I bought 4 each of the black, yellow, and the little red/tan ones.

ok the middle one matches what I've been told is a production red.

The bottom matches mine who I was told was a barred rock, if that is true then the spot means girl. LOL please note I have no experience. Hope you have some girls

It looks like the black chick with the white spot on her head has a black "wash" down the front of her legs. I think it's a Barred Rock pullet. Hard to tell on the white ones. They could be Leghorns.

It want take long to see if your white ones are leghorns I got mine mid march and he is bigger than my duckwing bantam already and the black ones look just like my barred rocks

I think your yellow ones are Tetra Tints...at least they look like mine that I got from TSC a few weeks ago.

I'm a new chick mom too... got six initially a month ago and another six over the weekend. Is there a Chickens Anonymous?

Anyway, in the first picture the dark chick in the background on the right looks just like my Americauna chicks. The chick in the middle picture looks like my Rhode Island Reds.

I also have a mystery chick. It was in the same "box" as Golden Six Link chicks (got one, at least I think

) but as it grows (one month old now) it is completely white with bright yellow legs. It's also the most aggressive and largest of the chicks. I'm thinking it's a Leghorn? I will post a picture when I can.
