I am new to silkies and started with 6. 5 Already laying hens and a companion rooster. Our rooster and 1 blk frizzle were hand raised together. We have 2 whites, 1 standard blk and one smooth. They are quite the variety. In one season now we have 75 chicks from 12 weeks to 2 weeks. They are every variety I can see. Need help with the roo, is he more a smooth or just a big regular? He has lots of smooth harder loose feathers but puffy butt and neck and underbelly. He's all blk but his comb is the darker red, Legs and all are blk. All our starters have the 4 toes, even our smooth. Between our smooth hen and him they have created some gorgeous splash smooths. I cant wait till they start laying and we can really tell who is hen and who is roo before selling them. They are adorable to watch all play.
