HELP - I'm a total Newby

I use the hemmorroid ointment on the prolapse. It will help to shrink the tissue as well as keep it moist. Definately separate the hen as the ointment has some fish oil in it. Have saved a few with this. Also good for other animals, such as dogs.
Good Luck! Carrie

I happened to think about this today, if they are feather picking you need to find who is the biggest offender and seperate it out. Put her somewhere by herself for a few days to try and break her. You can also put a fine layer of vicks on the feathers to make them a lot less palatable.

There are a lot of reasons for feather picking. Boredom, cramped quarters, too low protein. I would vote the first two as being the most likely reasons.

Any of the birds with red skin showing should probably be painted with blu kote, it will help cause a little confusion and maybe keep the others from picking at the red tender skin.
