Help im going to a poultry auction and need some info

I am going to a poultry auction and I was wanting to know if there is way to tell how old a hen is and if she is past her laying cycle?

Check out the feet for scaley legs, and I think I remember something about white being around the eyes, or ear lobes or something like that....
