Help! I'm having a crisis.

We are new gosling parents. We adopted a little gosling that was (for a lack of better words) abandoned by its family. It is about a week old to us, maybe a week or so older age wise. Cheep Cheep is an African goose, and already I love it to pieces.
However, Cheep Cheep has a growth on the side of it's neck, that seems to be growing bigger,
and I can't tell if it bothers this little one, but, all the books, and all the information I've been reading, nothing says anything about growths. It isn't a dewlap, and it isn't a knobby?
but on the right side of the neck, throat down to wing, it just keeps growing. The hubs says its a soft, fatty tissue like growth! Urgh...
Do I look for a specialized vet, or...?
Please be patient with me, as, I have been researching before I got this small fry, and I haven't seen this before.

Is there any way you can post a picture? That would help. It doesn't sound normal, but might not be a problem. Do you have a vet in your area that treats waterfowl, or an avian vet?

It can be anything from an injury that healed over, to something in the neck/throat. A picture is always helpful with things like this, but you should find a vet to examine the gosling first hand.

I haven't yet been able to get a picture. Every picture I take you can't see the problem. Grrrr. However, I did learn that what I am seeing is his crop.

It is inflamed. Could be because he is constantly eating and drinking...

I have two ducklings that their crops are doing the same thing, so I can't tell if it is a serious issue or not. We called a local vet in our area, and said not to worry about it.

Any ideas what I should do? Is it bothering them? Or is it only bothering me?

What are you feeding them to start with? and when small their crops can look enormous at times. So it may not be anything to worry about. As long as your feeding food specifically for ducks/geese or chicks. they don't need grit but if you are adding anything else to their diet grass, chopped lettuce etc. they will need grit. How do you know it's inflamed? just because it looks kinda large doesn't mean it's inflamed and swollen it just means they are eating good. Now very young birds will sometime eat on their shaving so you have to watch for that.

They are all sharing chick starter. And we just started a waterfowl mix starter... So, hopefully I will continue with not having any issues.
