hello I have a question about hatching eggs. my eggs are on day 7 in the incubator. I have had a good regulated temperature in there the whole time ranging between 99-101 and this morning my mom saw it got up to 102. Instead of telling me she opened the lid and turned the temperate down. it went all the way down to 93. she had no clue what she was doing. When I arrived home 4 hours later it was at 93 which is too cold. So for 4 hours they were in low temps. Is this going to majorly affect them and are the ruined?

I would not stress a whole lot about it at this point. Get the incubator back up to temp and candle the eggs at day ten you should see some movement if not you should see blood rings by then. There is hope!!!!!

You may loose a couple but not all.

I agree with the above comment. 4 hours shouldn't be too long. I've had the power go out overnight on multiple occasions, in freezing temperature, and those little embryos stuck through! Just keep an eye on the 'bator for any more temp spikes. The spikes in heat would concern me more than drops, but just keep an eye on it.

Thank you!! That makes me feel better but now I am having a hard time regulating it again. I had it matching up perfectly and I'm struggling to get both thermometers back to the right temp and matching

Can you describe your incubator in detail to me? Is it a still air or a fan?

What are you using exactly to monitor temp and humidity?

Is the incubator in a room where the temp remains somewhat steady as well?

Here is a picture of it. It is a little giant product. it's is a styrofoam one with a turner in it. it's a still air one. I had it on for 2 weeks prior to the eggs going in and all was well. I have one mercury thermometer and one digital which also measures the humidity. I have had the temps going great and all matched up together and regulated. it wasn't until this morning when my mother messed with it and now it's all off and I can't get it back to the way I had it. could it take a few hours to get back to normal?

Yes, it can take a bit of time to get it back to where you want it.

I don't have any experience with that specific incubator, but I can tell you that even the smallest adjustments can end up causing obvious fluctuations.

I tend to go overboard, filling my incubators with at least four or five cheap thermometers/humidity monitors each...

So, where was reading it at when it was holding steady ? And where is reading at now ?

In the picture, I see it reading at 97 degrees. Is it climbing?

Yeah before the eggs went in I had 4 thermometers in there and stuck with the 2 that matched. It climbed back up now to 100. I had to plug back up the air vent hole to regulate it and it seemed to match back up right away so I took it back out to keep good air ventilation and then the mercury one dropped. So maybe it'll take a little while to get back to normal? the temps seem better now though I just need to get them matched up again. The issue now seems to be the air vent hole causing the struggling to get the temps regulated again. It's frustrating because I worked very hard to get it perfect and for the first 7 days it was!

Try taking some tape and cover half the hole let it stabilize for a couple hours then remove the tape also it it is drafty where it is from a vent or something try moving out of the flow area.
