hi all,
so i'm trying to hatch some bantam eggs, its now day 20 they had been developing but i wasn't getting my hopes too high because the incubator isn't the most reliable. i went to check them this morning and realised my dad had accidently unplugged them overnight! the temperature had probably got down to about 10'c. i have turned it back on but i would like to know if they have any chance of surviving?
i bought a more reliable incubator last night to hatch my next batch in, but i really hope at least one of these makes it...
thanks.

I think there is still a chance they made it, but still try and see if they do hatch anyways because they probably can already maintain their own body heay (kind of), maybe enough to keep the alive.

That was a bit cold, but give them a chance. A broody hen of mine misplaced an egg once, it rolled out of the coop and it rained that day. The egg was ice cold and sopping wet by the time I found it. I put it back under the hen and it hatched out fine 2 days later. Chick embryos are tough little things!

10C (50F) is darn cold. There is still a chance a few will come through. There are many stories of people with power outages still hatching and as the last poster said at this late stage the chicks are generating their own heat. My favorite is of a person who decided his hatch was done and tossed the unhatched eggs in the garbage can to clean the incubator out only to hear chirping coming from it later that day.

Do you have a thermometer in the incubator? If not then get one for your next hatch. Temperature is your #1 factor in hatching so not prudent to hatch without monitoring it; 37.5C (99.5F) or if a still air incubator 38.5C (102F) measured at top of egg level.

thanks everyone, there's only 4 eggs in there but i will hang on for a few more days before giving up on them. there is a thermometer in there. its been the right temperature so far it was just unfortunate that this happened on one of the coldest nights recently!

Amazingly their pipping!!!
thanks for your help and advice :D

2 out of 4 hatched :D haven't uploaded pictures from camera yet.
