I am BRAND NEW to chickens. I have been researching like crazy for about 2 months and have been making plans to build our coop and then look at getting chicks. Well, tonight, we went to visit our neighbor and I found an injured chick, so he just gave her to me and told me to see if I could nurse her back to health. Btw, I say she, but I have no idea if its a male or female. LOL I also have NO idea how old she is. She's still fuzzy but the ends of her wings have tiny feathers. She had one bloody eye and a leg she keeps straight behind her (when I pick her up, she lets me fold it under her). I was told to give her oatmeal and keep her warm. We have her in a rubbermaid box (one of the big totes) with a heat lamp and the thermometer. I know to keep it about 100 degrees. We bought the baby single grain oatmeal and I mixed it with water and fed her some from an eye dropper. I have a small lid in the box with her with some water. Right now, I have her sitting on my chest and she's holding her head up and chirping at me.
Anyone ever nursed one back to health? How often and how much should i feed her? I would be incredibly grateful for any advise and help anyone can give me. It's not in me to just give up on her. I want to do everything in my power to help her. Thanks in advance!

I've no advice but totally appreciate you caring for that chick

Thanks! I dont know any other way. I see an injured animal and I have to do what I can to help. :) If she doesnt make it, I want to know that I did everything I could to give her a good chance to recover. :)
