Help! Introducing six chicks to one Grown chicken

Hi! I have six, 6 week old chicks and we just got a coop for them from a friend, but she asked if we would take her 1 chicken with it. She had more but she lost the others to an animals This one chicken is such a nice girl and very friendly, but when we put our chicks in she was pecking them all. Can you give me some tips on how to introduce them so they all can live together in the coop? I just am afraid that she will hurt/kill them if I just leave them in there with her. Any advice would be wonderful! Thanks!

Glad you could join us here! I like to use the see but don't touch method ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/introducing-new-chickens-using-the-see-but-don-t-touch-method
I've had very good results with this in the past. I'm afraid pecking will be inevitable as they establish a pecking order. If your chicks are quite small compared to the hen you may wish to wait until they are bigger do she does not cause them injury.

The Look but don't touch method is very good but, I would also advise you wait till the young chicks are nearly as big as their grown hen before you integrate them. She maybe reluctant to bother them when they are bigger, because there are more of them .
