Hi. Posting a few photos where I can’t tell if it is a male Or female for sure. Especially the black one. I absolutely heard it crowing this morning, and I know some hens can, but just want to be sure. ‘She’ sure sounds like a boy! Can you help identify male or female on the others too? I think they are all hens, but is that for sure? They are about 8 weeks old now. Still learning so would sure like to know how you guys can tell! Like…is there a class for this???? UGH. Thanks SO much.

The black chick *may* be flushed, so post updated pics of that one in two more weeks.

The splotches of red over the wing bows and backs are a male specific trait.

Thank you. Your explanations help a lot. Not sure what you mean by flushed tho?
Also, the combs and waddles are developing too fast for them to be a pullet at 8 weeks. That's one way you can tell!
I c. So at eight weeks a pullet would not have a comb or wattle
showing?

Flushed. Like what happens to your cheeks when your blood pumps harder. Chickens' combs and wattles can flush too when they get excited.
