I have an Orpington hen who went broody the end of July. I immediately ordered some eggs to be shipped and snuck them under her on the 3rd of August. I left of few of her own eggs knowing they were a few days ahead but I just planned on pulling her chicks if they hatched early. This morning I checked her and all 4 had hatched but only 2 had survived. The other two were about 1/2 way out but stuck in shells. I took the 2 live chicks and removed the 2 dead chicks. But today she is spending time out of nest here and there and I don't understand why. I'm in southern Alabama and we have had a heat index over 100 almost since she started setting and its rained and rained. Humidity is 100%. Is she getting off eggs so the eggs don't get too warm? Should I mist them? Should I bring her in the house for these last 4 days to a more controlled environment? I know they are shipped eggs and its "iffy" at best but I was really hoping to get a couple to hatch!
Any thoughts ????

You can mist them with a little water and also crack the lid of the nesting box open and use a stick to prop it up. Preferably pound the stick into the ground so that the lid doesn't come down and hurt or even kill another chicken.

Do you have good ventilation in your coop? While the heat can be a problem, the lack of air circulation can also harm them. Do you know what the temp in the coop is?
