ok so i have one older duck who is for sure a girl, she is about 5 months old. then i have a for sure drake who is 11 weeks old. i also have another 11 week old who i (was) 99% sure was a girl.

today my 100% drake was mating with my older 100% girl, and then my other “girl” tried to get on top of her as well. i’m not sure if this is dominance or if i have another drake (which would be horrible, because i already have an older pekin boy as well. so then i would have just one hen and 3 drakes)

her quack sounds exactly like my other girl, but i think she might have slight green on her face (only seen in light). she also has a bright orange girl beak though.

That’s definitely a girl. And she may not be trying to mate with your other girl but simply pushing him off? When I was trying to introduce two of my boys with my big group one was trying to mate with one of the girls. Another girl came over and pushed him off. Though sometimes a girl will try to mate with another girl.
Good luck!

that’s what i thought at first, but it seems like she is also trying to fight him. which makes no sense because they’ve been raised together since they were a couple days old. she shakes her head then goes running at him?

You mean the head vibrate thing? With neck feathers raised? Or sideways head bob with like a laughing quack?

Huh weird. They’ve been together since they were babies? Maybe she’s trying to be dominant I guess then?

One of my girls got a bit more feisty in Sexy Season and took on her Dad (who is the largest Drake of them all) like a boss ! :th

She looked more drakey than all of her brothers in fighting action - I was impressed if am honest !

So I think ducks, breeds, age, circumstances - its all up for grabs in Duck World !
