Cut out all the extra 'treats'.Yes that’s the thread before she had the soft shelled egg. Her normal diet consists of Manna Pro 16% all flock feed. She also occasionally gets scratch and other treats like apples, eggs and veggies. Are there any other foods that can give her calcium?
Yes that’s the feed. But no, I don’t give oyster shell, though I maybe should to prevent this from happening again. Last time this happened, it was also pretty hot, so I think that maybe the weather has something to do with this, could be a coincidence though.Cut out all the extra 'treats'.

Are you providing any calcium, like Oyster Shells, in a separate feeder?
An all flock feed is great for am mixed age and gender flock,But no, I don’t give oyster shell, though I maybe should to prevent this from happening again.
She has laid many eggs before that were in good condition. A few months ago, the same exact thing happened but she was able to push the egg out. She is still eating and drinking so I’ll keep treating her. I tried to bathe her earlier but she just wouldn’t let me so I’ll just keep in giving her food and water for now.It looks like an odd egg with a tail that broke off. Sometimes these are due to salpingitis or an infection, and it just sometimes happens. The shell gland in the oviduct may not be functioning well if this continues to happen after giving extra calcium and some vitamin D for a few days.
It was pretty hot today (81 f) which may have caused it. She has been in the nest box for a few hrs now and had access to food, calcium, and water. I hope she is able to push that egg out like she did before. Thanks for the site, very helpful infoHere is a link with odd eggs and possible causes:
