Separation is a good idea too, if the others mess with it.

Eventually the stuff that is inside the bulb should draw into the body, but it will likely leave a kind of scab that will either fall off, or will be dry enough to cut off.

It is definitely drying and the body is absorbing it. Hopefully it falls off on its own

Bad news, chick just died today. It was fine, eating and drinking. My husband thinks that was the intestines that were out, I don't think so but the chick only lived 3 days. Thanks for the advices.
