Beak is completely out but membrane still seems to be in tact.

Did the shell come off because of chick movement? The outer membrane looks dry, but what is the inner membrane doing? A shrink wrapped chick gets the inner membrane stuck tight to its body. I find using food grade oil works to loosen a spot if needed.

How long ago did the chick externally pip?

The shell was mostly off like this and only beak was poking out. I assisted removing a little more shell but not much. This chick pipped 24 hours ago. Which is why I was worried and tried removing a little more shell. When I touched the membrane it started to bleed a little so immediately put it back in the incubator.

How long should I wait before attempting to assist again? This one kept getting kicked around by its hatched brothers and sisters and I wonder if that is why it couldn’t zip properly.

If it is bleeding wait more. If it opens and closes its mouth like swallowing wait more. If it is making progress on its own wait more. If none of these things are true slowly help it like it would zip making sure the inner membrane is not stuck on the chick.

Okay thank you. I immediately knew to leave it alone so gonna trust my instincts and what you’re saying here!
