I noticed a few days ago one of my hens had a little limp, since the live in a field down past our house I don’t see them most of the day like I used to, so I forgot to check her foot after I took care of all the animals. I did check this morning and noticed a swelling spot on two of her toes, one on the left and one on the right. She still walking, but limping favoring the right. What can I do to treat this as I can’t get a vet? I’m going to go buy some Epsom salt to soak her feet but I don’t know if the infection has gone past that stage and I’ll need to drain them or something. I can also separate her so I can watch mor closely.
please help!

Can you take a photo of the other side of her foot?
Here’s the bottom of her feet. I don’t have pictures of after, but we soaked her feet for about 20 minutes and then pulled off one of the scans along with some gunk, it looked like there was more in there but I did not want to dig too much so I will check again next time I soak.
We put antibiotic ointment on the spots and sprayed Vetericyn on them and then wrapped her feet with vet wrap.
How often should I soak an wrap?

Honestly, it depends on the foot. If you did a lot of digging then I might give her a day off to rest. But if you know that there is still stuff in there that needs to come out, then I'd repeat until you feel pretty confident that it's all cleaned out. Once it's cleaned out good, I usually stop soaking unless it's very swollen, I just bandage, keep it clean and reapply ointment at bandage changes, which I do daily until I know it's healing well.

Thank you! I’m soaking again this morning and then I’ll see how much more I can get out. I’ll keep you all updated.
