Hi All!

I have 99 hens from age 6 months to 3 years. We bought 5 bags of Dumor pellet feed tonight at our local TSC. We have always bought this brand,

THESE BAGS WERE ALL OPENED TONIGHT AND I THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG.

Inside each bag there are some green colored pellets. Never saw that in this brand of feed before. One bag had the green looking pellets and something that almost looked like mold. I have photos.

Should I feed this to the flock or is this bad feed? I called Dumor but they are closed. I will try back in the morning.
Thanks!

Looks like morning dew or rain got in there..... Because the feed looks clumped up and yes that could be possible mold.... I suggest not feeding it to your chickens and getting better feed containers.... I use metal trash cans and buy feed in bulk to fill them up....I also made cute little symbols to go on them to tell the feeds apart... but that's just me!

Glad you joined us.

Take them back to TSC for refund and get new feed. Might have gotten wet in storage?

I would return them to the store for a refund. If this is the brand you normally use, and it looks different, no need to take a chance. Moldy feed can poisson your chickens. Clumps, off color feed, and especially a moldy odor should be sign to not use it.

Don't take chances with your flock. Moldy food should NEVER be fed to chickens.

Yes, return the feed. Moldy feed is very toxic to chickens and can kill them.

Welcome to our flock!

We're glad to have you.

I, too, would return that feed. Moldy feed is quite dangerous for chickens, and can easily kill them.
