Hi! Is this frostbite on the comb of our Olive Egger? We have had a couple evenings that have gotten in the mid 20s and one day of snow, but we have a covered run and a coop, so I’m not sure if this is frostbite or something else! Any suggestions on what to do?

Hi!

I'm not saying it's not, but usually it's on the tips of the comb. Could that be pecking injuries?

If it IS frostbite, most recommend doing nothing. Putting vaseline or other ointments on it can exacerbate the issue and be painful.

Wow! I hadn’t thought about that, as this one is the largest and seems to be the boss, but perhaps! I’ll keep an eye on it. Thank you!

Thank you! I hadn’t thought about pecking being the cause, but will keep an eye out!!
