Could it be she just formed weird? She also hatched from the small end of the egg, I went out and checked the shell I saved. The bird who was sitting on her is a first tme broody, not sure if she turned the eggs or not.
The muscle being blue around the stump bothers me, I read that could mean infection.

That is really wierd, I have never seen that happen before. Hopefully it will be absorbed and go away in a few days!

I hope so! She is standing straight up this morning and walking almost normal despite sac still being big. She is attempting to eat which is hilarious, she keeps pecking at the feed, it moves and she ruffles her little behind at it and makes a mad chirp

It's blessed to have you caring & looking out for it!

the blue muscles in the side of its umbelical scar are probably because he has dark skin...its normal no need to worry...and im shure he will be fine once he fully absorbs the yolk he will regain the nomal chick figure.. Best of luck!!!!

If you have any with raw navels, you can get a pouch of Aeromycin antibiotic powder at a feed store for about $4 and dip their navels in it to help protect against infection. That is better than using an ointment such as Neosporin, because ointments will keep the skin from being able to toughen up like it's supposed to.
