Help! Just ordered new chicken coop! Now need advice on what are best laying hens!

Someone mentioned buried wire, I put wire one inch deep in the direction of the predator, the fox, coyote or racoon won't back up to start digging and one inch deep keeps me from hitting it with the lawn mower, 12 inches wide is enough
