Help Keeping Water From Freezing!

I hope you and your chickens have survived the storm. We are close to Gillette Stadium. Here is an excerpt I did about prepping for Winter. (Preparing the girls for winter)

  1. The water is kept under the raised coop. We have an outlet installed by an electrician in the run. We have a 250 watt stock tank de-icer in the bucket. I do check that the water is still flowing on the really cold days. We generally plug this in starting in November. Although it is temperature controlled and only goes on when needed. deicer.JPG water.JPG

Thanks!

I use a clear tote with lid, stock tank deicer, and horizontal nipples. Here in NW Montana it gets a bit chilly as in -20 F is not an unusual temperature during a cold winter night. Have never had my system freeze up yet. Also, the water can not get dirty.
