Help knowing the difference between a hen and rooster

You are absolutely right they are so loving and they’re just so adorable
Please just don't give up on them when they become "teenagers" with raging hormones. Many people do during this time, and it is too bad because if you handle it correctly, they come out of it and are even better. When they go into it, they may try to come at you. Try not to react and just walk right past them like it is nothing. If they keep going, pick him up and walk around with him either singing or talking softly and then put him down when his pupils are no longer dilated. Just remember to see through their eyes always. They have 3-jobs; 1. to protect hens and chicks with their lives, 2. to find food, and 3. to mate. One cannot expect anyone who would give their life without thinking about it to have hormones at times that make them think they need to protect the hens from everyone - including us. There are many here that will give very bad advice, including pinning the rooster down or hanging them upside down, etc...basically showing them who is boss. I guarantee you 100% that does not work. While we may think the hens are ours - they are not, they are the roosters, and we should want it that way. Also, respect that you are "partnering" with him to take care of the hens. In other words, when you go out with treats, give them to the roosters. They will divide them up for the hens and they will not take one bite, until every last hen walks away from the treats. If men were roosters, there would be no divorces :). Conversely, I wish I could say hens are that self-sacrificing, but they are not:D
