I have alot of quail and they ar pretty tough. I've had some that got toes bitten off and never limped. One got caught in the feeder this morning and one of it's legs was all scratched up, red but not bleeding. I got her out and she walked off. I have one in a hospital cage with a toe that was nearly bitten off and it's all swollen and the bleeding has stopped and it hasn't limped at all. I'd be sitting still and in pain if it was me. What I do is I put peroxide on the wounds and put them along in a cage till they heal. Most of the time they do just fine as long as they are away from the others. They will litterally eat each other at the sight of blood. Just put a towl over it's cage so it stays quiet and as still as possible and it will be fine.

Oh and the molt.........I have feathers everywhere. I have them in ages from grown breeders to 3 week old chicks and there are nearly 200 and there are feathers everywhere. I'm just glad they're outside in the shed. When I bring some in due to injuries it's not so bad. I have a room that they go in that's used for incubators and brooders and hospital cages. They're never inside long enough to matter with the molt and I have a vacuume.
