Hi, 12 chicks on lock down since yesterday. I can see cracks in 4 eggs and can hear them. Humidity at 75 and will increase as they hatch so should I try and lower humidity? Problem is that the eggs will slip around if I try an remove water from bottom.
Also, There is no water in bottle and am leaving it that way until humidity goes down. Is that ok? or once water evaporates from tube then air will be going in? There is still water in attached tube. I tried to squeeze tube water back towards the bottle but some must have gone into the base of incubator which I think caused the rise....so what do I do?? Thank you!!!

The reason you increase your humidity for hatch is to stop the membrane that surrounds the chick from drying out and shrinking. I use a minimum humidity of 65% to stop that membrane from shrinking. Sometimes during hatch the humidity gets up to 85% to even 90%. I had no problems, that membrane did not shrink.

Personally I would not be trying to reduce humidity.

Thank you! Can you tell me if I should put more water in the bottle now or wait til I see no more in the tube? I am just afraid if i put more in now the force of adjusting the bottle would cause it to go up even more
