The temperature in my hovabator 1588 has been spot on and incredibly constant for weeks and all of a sudden it's freaking out and climbing up to at least 104 degrees and may have even gotten higher. I'm watching it and checking it constantly even though it's the middle of the night here. I tried unplugging the unit and then plugging it back in hoping that would reset the thermostat. Help! Help! Help! What do I do? Why is this happening? I've been taking the lid off briefly to bring the temp down, but I already have an egg pipped and every time I take the lid off I'm messing up my humidity. Please help!

The temperature is going back to normal and then spiking again! I keep thinking it has stabilized and then a couple hours later it's back up to 104. I have several pipped eggs now. Some are peeping and some aren't. No progress after the pips. It's day 20.

What kind of thermometer are you using? Is there a chance your thermometer is off? I'm not sure what to do with the temp spikes. One of the reasons I love my genesis is because I just plug it in and dont have to worry. At present I have my SpotCheck thermometer on loan so I'm a bit nervous after reading this.

Wishing you the best of luck with your hatch. Hopefully this doesn't affect the chicks.

Yes, that's why I bought this model as well. I wanted to keep things as simple as possible. I have four thermometers and they are all reading approximately the same when the spikes happen. I did take off the top and spray down the fan with a can of compressed air to disperse dirt and dust. I'm not sure if that made any difference or not or if the fan was even having a problem. Why does this stuff always happen during lockdown?!
